Research

Research focusing on the discovery of new approaches for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of breast cancer is an integral part of Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center’s research enterprise.

As with all our research programs, our work in breast cancer is comprehensive, collaborative and multi-disciplinary. Our research runs the full spectrum, from world-class basic science, to translational research aimed at moving discoveries into patient care, to population-based work to uncover causes and preventions, to innovative patient treatment studies called clinical trials. It also includes a Specialized Program of Research Excellence (SPORE) in breast cancer, one of only ten such centers selected and funded by the National Cancer Institute.
