The services offered at the Vanderbilt Breast Center (VBC) are described under routine screening and specialized services. If you have questions or need more information, please call the VBC at 615-322-2064.
Our hours are:
- 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday
- 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Saturday for screening mammography only
- To allow adequate time for screening, the last scheduled appointment is at 4:20 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon on Saturday.
Referrals & Insurance Coverage
Patients may make an appointment directly with the Vanderbilt Breast Center (self referral) or have an appointment arranged through their doctor’s office (doctor referral). However, patients may need a doctor referral to ensure insurance coverage for certain appointments and procedures at the Vanderbilt Breast Center. Patients should check with their insurance provider regarding whether a doctor referral is needed and if reimbursement is available under their medical plan for our physicians and facility.
In addition, some insurance providers require a specific waiting period before tests or procedures can be performed. For example, routine screening mammograms often are only reimbursed annually, and some other procedures require a six-month waiting period before additional testing will be reimbursed. Your insurance provider should be able to explain these guidelines.
The Vanderbilt Breast Center accepts payments from many different insurance plans. If at any time you need help with questions about referrals or insurance coverage, please call the Vanderbilt Breast Center, 615-322-7563. We will be happy to assist you with these issues.
