About Our Church

A Christ-Centered Church

Vienna Baptist Church is a Christ-centered community committed to teaching God's Word with clarity and conviction. We desire to help people grow spiritually, serve others with love, and live out the message of the Gospel in everyday life.

Our mission is to love God, love others, disciple believers through truth and prayer, and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to our community and to the world.

What We Believe

Our beliefs are rooted in the authority of Scripture and centered on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. These convictions guide our worship, teaching, and mission.

The Triune God

We believe in the triune God of the Bible, who is eternally one God in three persons. This one, true God is most clearly revealed to us in the incarnate Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ

We believe in the Good News of the atoning death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, knowing that salvation — forgiveness of sins, release from guilt and condemnation, reconciliation with God, and eternal life — are granted in grace to all who trust Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. This Gospel is the central message of the Bible.

The Authority of Scripture

The Bible, composed of the Old and New Testaments, is the divinely inspired Word of God. It is the final written authority and trustworthy for faith and practice. It is to be interpreted responsibly under the guidance of the Holy Spirit within the community of faith. The primary purpose of the Bible is to point to Jesus Christ, the living Lord of the Church.

The Sovereignty and Lordship of Christ

We believe that God is sovereign over all and that this sovereignty is expressed and realized through Jesus Christ. Therefore we affirm the Lordship of Christ over the world and the church, and we joyfully confess that Jesus Christ is Savior and Lord.

Proclaiming the Gospel

We are called in loyalty to Jesus Christ to proclaim the power of the Holy Spirit, the Good News of God's reconciling grace, and to declare the saving power of the Gospel to every human being and to every human institution. We celebrate Christ's charge to make disciples of all nations and to bear witness to God's redeeming reign in human affairs.

Unity with the Body of Christ

We are summoned to this mission in common with all Christians. With the whole body of Christ we believe that God has been revealed in Jesus Christ as in no other, and that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself (2 Corinthians 5:18). We anticipate the day when every creature and all creation will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (Philippians 2:10-11).

Therefore We Believe

  • The Bible is the final authority and trustworthy for faith and practice.
  • The Church is the gathered fellowship of regenerated believers and a sign of God's coming Kingdom.
  • Freedom to respond to the Lordship of Christ is fundamental to the Christian Gospel and to human dignity.
  • Witness to Christ is the ongoing task of every Christian and every church.

Created in God's Image

We believe that humanity is created in the image of God. As Genesis 1:27 declares, "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them." Both men and women bring value and dignity to the body of Christ.

A People for This Time

  • We remember the past while pursuing God's vision for the future
  • We are committed to religious liberty and the separation of church and state
  • We call the world to acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord
  • We trust the Holy Spirit to empower us to live faithfully today

We further believe that God has called us forth to such a time as this; that we live with a realizable hope; that all things are held together in Christ; that all creation will find its ultimate fulfillment in God; that we shall see the One whose we are; and that Jesus shall reign forever and ever.

Our Calling as God's People

  • To proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all nations
  • To invite people to salvation and discipleship in Christ
  • To live lives of holiness and faithful devotion
  • To worship God regularly as a gathered church
  • To care for the needy, weak, and oppressed
  • To pursue unity within the body of Christ
  • To support missions and the spread of the Gospel worldwide

Our Hope

We believe that God has called His church to faithfully proclaim the Gospel in every generation. We live with hope in Christ, trusting that all things are held together in Him and that one day every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
